Shocking: A bill before congress to ban pet fish, reptiles, rodents, and birds
A bill is currently before congress that, if passed, will ban all non-native species of birds, fish, reptiles and rodents from being bred or sold in the US. Not only will this devastate people who have kept these species as well-loved pets, but the scope of damage is much greater as it affects owners of independent pet stores and employees of larger chains such as PetsMart, Petco, etc. as sales drop dramatically. In these economic times, it is just unacceptable.
